MultiDisc® Inlet Screens

The unique solution to inlet screening problems

Multidisc Inlet Screens

The MultiDisc Screen is an innovative approach in the field of waste water and water intake screening technology utilising a unique motion of crescent shaped screening panels that are oriented across the direction of flow. This simple configuration provides many advantages over the more traditional screen designs, and therefore this unit can be readily installed in new works or retro-fitted into existing sites.

The water flows directly through the moulded crescent shaped mesh panels which are oriented perpendicular to the direction of flow. The flow only passes through a single thickness of panels without any significant change of direction; therefore the headloss is kept to a minimum over that of other traditional and 'straight through' screens. The screening debris is retained on the face of the ascending mesh panels, with coarse items being elevated by integral debris carriers. The screened material is carried to the head of the screen where it is efficiently removed by means of a spray bar into the optional integral screenings wash-press where it is cleaned, dewatered, compacted and transported for discharge.

Advantages and Benefits

  • No carryover of debris to the clean water side of the screen
  • Compact footprint needing less space than conventional screening
  • New concept, based on thru-flow screening, installed across the channel
  • Considerable cost savings in civil structure
  • Simple installation with integral screenings wash-press
  • Low maintenance cleaning system utilising a spray bar (no brushes)
  • Drive chains and sprockets are all located on the clean water side of the unit
  • High screenings removal capability by means of thick perforated plastic panels and additional stainless steel debris carriers
  • Single pass screening for reduced headloss
  • Single flow direction for low headloss
  • Single maintenance free side bar chain for lower operating costs
  • Stainless steel Gr 1.4301 (304) or Gr1.4571 (316 Ti)
