Frequently Asked Questions

I am looking for a device to allow a fixed flow of around 8 l/sec to discharge from a sewage works inlet tank. Please suggest a suitable HydroSlide flow regulator with the unit size and what fixing arrangement is supplied.

The HydroSlide Combi can be positioned either on the "wet" or "dry" side of the control chamber wall with various model sizes to control flows from 5 to 250 l/sec. For your application to control sewage flows to 8 l/sec, I would specify a DR150FF Combi working to a max head of 1500mm and requiring a minimum operating head of 500mm for the operation of the blockage release mechanism. If you have in excess of 1000mm of upstream head we are able to provide a standard Combi DR200/150 capable of controlling flows with up to 4000mm of upstream head.

The unit sizes as follows; L = 760mm x W = 500mm x H = 670mm for the DR150FF and L = 370mm x W = 460mm x H = 1160mm for the DR200/150 std.

We are trying to specify a HydroSlide for a project we are about to send in for planning and we need to regulate the discharge to 2.3 l/s. On the excel spreadsheet I have entered in the details as required and it indicates that a special size may be required for <3 l/s. Is there another way of specifying the flow control for a discharge <3 l/s?

In order to specify a HydroSlide for your project I shall require the maximum upstream head. However, a DR100 Mini regulator can control 2.3 l/sec up to 350mm max head or the DR100 VS regulator can control 2.3 l/sec up to 1350mm max head. I attach our latest HydroSlide selection excel spread sheet which now also includes for the surface water units at low flows.

How quickly can a Static Peak Screen be removed from a CSO chamber? Are they fixed in position or can they be easily lifted out for cleaning?

The Hydrok Peak Screens are manufactured in standard panel sizes mounted within a stainless steel frame via quick release clamps. This enables sections of screens to be easily removed from the chamber for maintenance of the sewer beneath etc. Usually the peak screens are cleaned in situ from above via a manual jet wash or a Hydrok wash water spray system.
