Frequently Asked Questions
Q.I have a storm water attenuation chamber 2m deep and require to regulate the discharge flow to 5 l/sec. Can you provide a flow control to give constant flow throughout the head range to enable me to optimise the chamber design?
A.The HydrOslide DR 200/100 VS unit shall provide control of 5 l/sec up to a maximum head of 2.7m and therefore suit your system. The discharge rate shall be controlled to 5 l/sec +/- 5% throughout the head range and thus discharge the chamber at maximum rate reducing the chamber size.
Q.I am designing a SW attenuation tank, and need to control the outlet flow rate to 2 l/s can this be achieved?
A.Yes - By using the HydrOslide flow control a suitable model can be selected for the required control head.
Q.I need to control the flow from a storage system to the following rates 5 l/s (1 year storm) 8 l/s (5 yr) and 15 l/s (10 Yr) can you provide a flow control device to achieve this?
A.The HydrOslide control cam can be designed to permit the flow rate to increase at prescribed levels to enable a stepped flow regime to be accommodated.
Q.I require a simple flood protection barrier which can be quickly installed during flood warning to protect my home. Are you able to provide a self assemble product for this?
A.The Hydrok Stoplog system can be provided to suit doorways, gateways etc. for DIY installation. This system consists of permanently fixed side channels which are fitted to the gate post etc and a number of light weight aluminium stoplogs to locate into the guides. Each Stoplog has a sealing system to create a water tight barrier during times of flooding. The stoplogs are stored during dry weather. Q.I am designing a storm attenuation system utilizing plastic block media; can the HydrOslide flow control be used to limit the discharge to the watercourse?
A.Yes - there is a range of HydrOslide types that can be selected to carry out the required flow duty to suit most head ranges. HydrOslides can be used with all methods of attenuation.
Q.I have a flat gradient 225mm surface water pipe 50m long which is prone to blocking through sediment deposits. Does Hydrok have a flushing system which I can install to cleanse this.
A.The Hydrok HydrOflush unit can be installed on the upstream end of the pipe within a Polypropylene manhole chamber. The chamber should receive a supply of flushing water from a roof down pipe etc which shall slowly fill the manhole until the HydrOflush is activated releasing the water down the pipe. The flushing wave has enough velocity to the remove the sedimentation that has built up. This process continues automatically and without the need for power. For further information please visit the "Flood protection" section our web site.
Q.Can I reduce the attenuation volume required for storm storage by using the HydrOslide?
A.The answer is yes. Due to the HydrOslide being a 'constant flow' regulator, the unit can pass the desired flow rate at all stages of storage, ensuring that the downstream permitted flow rate is utilized, reducing storage volumes over other flow control methods, and allowing the attenuation system to empty quicker, enabling the volume to be ready for the next storm.
