Surface water/SUDS systems often challenge the engineer with regards to maintaining water levels within storm water attenuation systems. Maintaining maximum top water levels during storm conditions, without creating additional surcharging, is not achievable via the construction of traditional static weirs. As flows increase the head over the weir increases raising top water levels. The Hydrobend variable weir offers a self regulating solution to this problem. As flow increases the HydroBend weir progressively alters the weir edge to maintain a constant top water level.
The HydroBend operates without external energy by means of counter weights within the body of the assembly. This system enables on site adjustments and calibration to ensure the accurate control of the spill event and also future changes to quantity/frequency. In the event of backwater surcharge, the HydroBend counter balance can be upgraded and the reduction of the overflow quantity can be compensated to ensure the maintenance of the maximum storage level within the storage system.
