East Shaw Street - Scottish Water

Steinhardt StopLog

East Shaw Street is located in Kilmarnock, Scotland and is prone to flooding during storm conditions. One particular business premise has been repeatedly flooded over the past few years suffering damage to the building, stock and business trading. Scottish Water became involved with providing a solution to protect the business and contacted Hydrok for advice.

Hydrok offered the Steinhardt StopLog system as an emergency flood barrier which can quickly be installed across the works access doorway in times of flood warning.

Hydrok scope of supply

To design, fabricate, and install an emergency flood protection StopLog system 3.7m long by 0.65m high into the works access at East Shaw Street.

  • 2 Side Brackets: 304 Stainless Steel
  • 6 Stop Logs: in 150mm Aluminium Alloy
  • 2 Locking Clamps: 304 Stainless Steel
  • Floor Seal: closed cell neoprene
  • 2 Side cover plates: in 304 Stainless Steel

The complete system was fitted within a single visit to site by Hydrok installation fitters. In dry conditions the lightweight aluminium logs are stored within the business premise and the permanently fitted side channels are covered with side cover plates.

During storm warning the cover plates are removed, the logs are installed and clamped into position creating a watertight barrier. Each log has its own sealing system which creates a seal with the log below and the side channels, this creates a full protection against the head of storm water.
