For Hire: Hydrok Liftout Aeration Units
Hydrok are proud to unveil their new Rental Range of high efficiency, fine bubble liftout diffuser aeration grids. Following on from the success of the Liftout Grids aeration systems for new-build and retrofit schemes, the Hydrok Emergency Recovery (HyER) Grids now make the ultra-efficient Aquaconsult Aerostrip ® Diffusers available for short or long term lease across the country.
HyER grids can be utilised to help tackle river pollution incidents, or to boost capacity at overloaded treatment plants. The HyER Liftout Grids have been specifically design for rental purposes with maximum diffuser coverage for optimal oxygen transfer, all within a compact and robust lifting grid.
HyER Liftout Grids are available at short notice, and can be installed easily and quickly into almost any situation. Hydrok offer a wide range of accompanying flexible and stainless steel pipe work to expedite HyER grids into operation, with either an existing or temporary air supply - and are able to manufacture bespoke connections according to the particular requirements of the plant.

Hydrok innovate process treatment with Biotextil Cleartec®
Hydrok UK Wastewater Process division have successfully completed initial trials of their new HY-SAF package wastewater treatment plant incorporating the Biotextil Cleartec® fixed film media and the Aquaconsult AEROSTRIP® high efficiency air diffusers.
Following the success of many Biotextil Cleartec® installations throughout Europe, Hydrok‘s worked closely with ATAC Solutions Ltd to develop a new innovation in package treatment plant incorporating a Cleartec IFAS (Intergraded Fixed-Film Activated Sludge) system within the plant. This, combined with suspended biomass, creates a hybrid package SAF (Submerged Aeration Filter).
Hydrok represent Cleartec as sole distributors for the Biotextil Cleartec® within the UK and Eire and specify this unique IFAS system within new and existing Activated Sludge Plants (ASP) to increase treatment capacity and reduce construction costs through the addition of fixed film biomass, the development of the HY-SAF comes as a direct result of this ongoing success.
The trial HY-SAF plant at Wessex Waters Overstratton WwTW has been in operation for the past 9 months resulting in a series of successful results for BOD and Suspended Solids removal; Hydrok appreciate the ongoing assistance from Wessex Water who are presently enabling the relocation of the HY-SAF plant to Crewkerne WwTW in order to expand the trial program and incorporate ammonia removal and long term stress testing.
The Hydrok/ATAC HY-SAF will provide a new innovative solution compared to the traditional package SAF units currently available on the market. The HY-SAF is designed to remove the need for de-sludging from the plant, maintaining all solids in suspension to be passed on for later settlement. The Biotextil Cleartec® provides a fixed film media which, unlike the traditional block or random media, does not retain sludge and dead biomass which can reduce the effective surface area and treatment efficiency.
Dave Armstrong, Director for Hydrok said, “Hydrok and Atac took time to understand previous problems with the traditional SAF technologies available and have specifically designed the new HY-SAF plant to eliminate these and to provide an adaptable plant for either permanent or temporary treatment, for new build or emergency treatment during maintenance periods. The match of the Aquaconsult fine bubble diffusers to the Biotextil Cleartec® provides an ideal system for excellent performance and an energy efficient treatment plant.”
The simplicity of media removal and access to the aeration system removes previous maintenance problems and offers advantage over the traditional package SAF units. Each HY-SAF is constructed with a stainless steel media cage holding the Biotextil Cleartec® and diffusers which can be lifted directly from the HY-SAF for inspection by simply disconnecting the air supply pipe work.
Biotextil Cleartec® provides a unique innovative IFAS system which may be expanded and applied to any size ASP to add to the treatment process by the addition of biomass growth area. Hydrok, ATAC, Aquaconsult and Cleartec have worked closely together combining expertise and technologies to produce a treatment solution which may deliver significant savings in capital cost and energy savings of up to 30%. Dave Armstrong goes on to say “These innovations are becoming increasingly important to our customers where budgetary restrictions and efficiency gains will be required in order to meet the demands of AMP5. Hydrok and ATAC have developed this complete treatment process packaged to offer significant efficiency gains and reductions in plant running costs through careful consideration of the total system design and supply.”
The HY-SAF package technology lends itself to the treatment of small developments, hotels, mobile home establishments, holiday complexes, campsites, offices, highway service stations, public houses, leisure clubs, power stations, hospitals and schools, or anywhere where there is no access to the sewer network. Typically a single cell unit measuring 3m x 2m x 4m high can effectively treat a population of 350; further cells may be simply added to increase capacity for larger process treatment plant. Each HY-SAF is manufactured from grade 304 Stainless Steel and may be delivered complete with all necessary controls and air blower system.
Hydrok UK are able to offer comprehensive support and technical advice on wastewater treatment to Specifiers and Architects, as well as undertaking site visits and surveys. We are also able to offer a full installation and commissioning service and further operational support, and ongoing maintenance.

Hydrok introduce the new generation of diffusers from Aquaconsult
Hydrok is pleased to introduce the new 'Q' Type Aerostrip® from Aquaconsult into the UK market. A continuous programme of R & D at Aquaconsult has resulted in a new further enhanced diffuser with increased efficiency helping to achieve increased cost effectiveness. These diffusers offer the optimal symbiosis between low capital investment and low energy cost on the one hand, and maximum performance on the other.
The Hydrok Wastewater Treatment Processes design team and engineers make the Aerostrip® diffusers an integral part of all their wastewater treatment solutions. The new generation diffusers are ultra fine bubble, which transfer oxygen to effluent more effectively than any other type. This efficiency allows the designers at Hydrok to reduce blower sizes, reduce air main diameters, and make savings on valves and other hardware.
Aerostrip® diffusers offer a flexible installation system which allows for optimal adaptation to all tank shapes, sizes and volume requirements whether for a new build, site expansion or retrofit. They are perfect for incorporating into the Hydrok Liftout Diffuser Grid system which is specifically designed to allow the operator to remove and maintain the Aquaconsult Aerostrip® diffusers without the costly need to drain the aeration tank.
